From the 8th of January, 2020, Florence is coloured with the iconic Blue Balestra for the inauguration of Celeblueation, the anthological exhibition of Renato Balestra, a tribute to the creative talent of one of the most prestigious couturier in the world, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. After Domodossola (Civic Museum of Palazzo San Francesco), Monza (Villa Reale), Naples (Certosa and Museo di San Martino) and Forte dei Marmi (Fortino lorenese), on the occasion of "Pitti Immagine Uomo 97" the exhibition arrives in the evocative headquarters of the Fondazione Zeffirelli, in Florence, whose façade for the occasion will be illuminated in blue. "I announce with great enthusiasm - says Renato Balestra - that my Celeblueation will be exhibited during the 97th edition of "Pitti Uomo" in the prestigious Fondazione Zeffirelli, in Florence. Franco Zeffirelli was a great artist and also a great man. I had the honor of being his friend and the joy of having collaborated with him on the costumes for the theatrical comedy Così è (se vi pare) by Luigi Pirandello. I remember how much passion he put into his work and his results were so striking. Thanks to "Pitti Uomo" and to the Foundation of the greatest Master of theater, of culture, a true Italian glory. A special thanks to Pippo Zeffirelli who believed and collaborated in this prestigious initiative ". Pippo Zeffirelli, President of the Foundation named after Maestro Franco, says that "hosting Renato Balestra within our Foundation is a huge pleasure for us. Zeffirelli has always esteemed him both as a friend and as a talented man. With his work he has made people dream and he has dressed millions of women all over the world. A true talent. I invite Florentines and all fashion lovers to pay tribute to this artist of ours ». Produced by Armando Fusco and strongly desired by Pippo Zeffirelli, the exhibition that continues until the 2nd of February, 2020 features around 300 pieces including sketches, drawings and clothes, evidence of a path that highlights the evolution of Renato Balestra's style during a long career full of successes. It is an exhibition extended with respect to the previous ones, which offers a site-specific, by artist Maria Franca Bartesaghi, experience in the so-called Sala della Musica (oratory of the monumental complex of San Firenze built in the second half of the seventeenth century, the only completely Baroque architecture in Florence) and which includes also an exclusive and unseen selection of pieces that attest to the beginnings, when the designer still adopted a pictorial expression to give life to his creations. This show wants also to be a tribute to the international couturier and to his eclectic artistic personality, a tribute that after the Florentine stage will continue at the Castle di S.Giusto di Trieste, to then fly eastwards, up to Thailand.
